Academic review process
The review workflow, step by step
- Scope. Each page or question set begins with a defined scope: the examination, the subject, the syllabus region, and the question a student is actually trying to answer.
- Drafting. A subject expert — a doctor, educator or professional familiar with the examination — drafts the material from standard textbooks and official sources.
- Academic review. The draft is reviewed within the PrepElephant Academic Review Team, checking the three dimensions described below.
- Revision and sign-off. The author addresses the review comments and the reviewer confirms the changes. Only then is the page approved for publication.
- Publication with dates. The page goes live carrying its byline — "Prepared and reviewed by the PrepElephant Academic Review Team" — and its first published date.
- Scheduled re-review. Examination-fact pages return for review ahead of each examination cycle; other pages return on a rolling schedule, and sooner when official announcements or reader reports call for it.
What "reviewed" means
A page that carries our byline has passed three checks:
- Accuracy check. Facts, values, classifications and question-and-answer pairs are verified against standard textbooks and official sources.
- Curriculum alignment. The content is checked against the syllabus of the examination concerned, so students are neither taught things the examination does not need, nor left without things it does.
- Examination-pattern alignment. The depth, style and difficulty of the material are checked against the actual pattern of the examination, so that reading and practice resemble the paper itself.
Versioning and dates on pages
Every page shows three dates: first published (when the page first went live), last reviewed (when the Academic Review Team last verified it, whether or not anything changed) and last updated (when the text last changed). Internally, each review produces a new version of the page, so the history of what changed, and when, is always recoverable. When a correction changes the meaning of a page, the correction is noted on the page itself under our Corrections policy.
How the review team is organised
Today, pages on PrepElephant are published under an organisational byline rather than under individual names: "Prepared and reviewed by the PrepElephant Academic Review Team". We made this choice deliberately. We would rather be honest about the team as a whole — doctors, educators and professionals familiar with the examinations — than attach individual names for appearance. As the platform grows, we intend to add named expert authorship to pages, and this page will be updated when that begins.
